The Elephant Has Four Hearts: Nyau Masks and Ritual
The first North American exhibition of Douglas Curran's new body of work will be at PHG in January and February 2005 and is offered for touring immediately after. The images reveal a never-before seen world of the Chewa people in Malawi. Exhibition consists of 50 photographs in 22" X 28" frames, and eight photographs in 32" X 40" frames. Video component. Optional mask component. Curated by Bill Jeffries. 48 page colour catalogue with texts by Douglas Curran, Bill Jeffries and several interviews and statements by Chewa participants in the project.
