IN YOUR DREAMS
Gisele Amantea

Gisele Amantea, In Your Dreams, 1999, installation detail

Curated by Karen Love.

An installation by Montreal artist Gisele Amantea, of thirty-one ‘snow domes’, each containing tiny video projections that seem to float before your eyes. Movie excerpts play on the screens, from Fellini’s La Strada and Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast, to King Kong and The Best of Betty Boop, revealing a study of the fantasy-laden ways in which women have been represented in popular culture.

In Your Dreams is loaned by the Musee des Beaux Arts in Montreal. Supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
