Disruptions of the Self in the Work of Claude Cahun

Claude Cahun, Self-Portrait, 1927

A look at work by French artist Claude Cahun (1894 to 1954). The photographic self portraits of Cahun utilize the artist’s self as subject and make use of costume and props to investigate issues of stereotype and identity.

The Cahun photographs are on loan from the Jersey Museum in the Channel Islands.

Supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
