Jamie Tolagson is an emerging, self-taught artist working in photography. Tolagson’s recent work has concentrated on photography’s relationship with the countercultural movements of the 1960’s as well as the subjective experience of modernist architecture in contemporary life. Inherent in his practice is a keen understanding of the vernacular tradition in photography, and an ongoing fascination with present manifestations of the past. His work has been shown at CSA Space, Jeffrey Boone Gallery and the Vancouver Film Centre, and published in Canadian Art, The Globe & Mail, Doppleganger Magazine, and To The Dogs (a 2008 Presentation House/Arsenal Pulp Press publication.) His photographs are in numerous private collections in Canada and the United States. His work was featured in the 2009 Canadian Art Foundation Art Hop. He is represented by Jeffrey Boone Gallery, Vancouver.
“Floral” is a previously un-exhibited solarized print from Tolagson’s ongoing “Negative Work” series, which was the subject of a solo exhibition at Jeffrey Boone Gallery in 2008.
