Mark Soo is an artist who lives and works in Vancouver. A graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2001, Soo’s works often utilize complex photo-based languages to investigate relationships between artistic convention and contemporary culture. Past exhibitions have included presentations at the Morris and Helen Belkin Gallery, Vancouver; Galeria Luisa Strina, Sao Paulo; Western Bridge, Seattle; CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, San Francisco; and Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen, Antwerp (offsite). Upcoming exhibitions include works at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Durham; Galerie Wilfried Lenz, Rotterdam; and Or Gallery, Vancouver. Soo was a recipient of the 2009 Jack and Doris Shadbolt Foundation VIVA Award.
