Vancouver artist Raymond Boisjoly’s work, according to curator Kathleen Ritter, “addresses notions of cultural translation, be they manifest in sculpture or photography. He responds to a wide arrange of phenomena and often negotiates the visual intersections of numerous cultural practices”. Boisjoly has participated in recent group exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Crawl Space Gallery (Seattle), and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery (Vancouver). Raymond studied at The University of British Columbia and Emily Carr Institute.
With allusions to the work of Ed Ruscha, Boisjoly’s Stranger Things Will Have Happened is constructed utilizing new digital tools available to artists to create an richly enigmatic work that operates at the threshold of image and text, painting and photograph.
