Anne Collier (b. 1970) lives and works in New York. Rephotographing vernacular images, readymade photographs, and found objects with a deadpan yet subtle humour, Collier’s carefully staged works draw upon a legacy of conceptual and minimalist art that she inflects with a complex sense of psychology. Shot from a 1970s photography book about different printing techniques, Eye (Hot Foil Stamping) depicts a woman’s eye “looking back” at the viewer and refers to ideas surrounding gender and identity. Presentation House Gallery had the honour of presenting Collier’s first solo exhibition in Canada in January 2008, and is publishing a monograph of her work. Exhibiting widely internationally, Collier has presented work at P.S.1/MoMA; the 2006 Whitney Biennial; Gagosian Gallery, New York; Yvon Lambert, New York; Luhring Augustine, New York; and Esther Schipper, Berlin, among others. Collier is represented by Marc Foxx, Los Angeles, Corvi-Mora, London, and Anton Kern, New York.
