Art Jones was a leading photojournalist with the Vancouver Sun in the 1940s, and continued to produce photographs through Artray Studios in the 1950s. Art Jones photographs were included in the 1986 PHG exhibition, “In Transition: Postwar Photography in Vancouver” and a collection of his photojournalism from the 1940s and 1950s is part of the Special Collections of the Vancouver Public Library. This photograph taken in 1951 documents a significant Vancouver street corner and landmark, now gone. It was included in the PHG internationally-touring exhibition, “Facing History”, and is reproduced in the “Facing History” book.
.Art Jones was also a film and television producer. He founded CHAN – TV, now Global, and established and operated West Vancouver’s Panorama and Hollyburn Film Studios. For many years he produced and hosted the TV series, “Art Jones & Company”, and continued to be involved in broadcasting until his death this spring.
